I diaper with the best intentions. I always intend to use cloth, but it doesn’t always happen. We’re part-time EC-ers (if you don’t know what that means, it means we’re those weird people who actually put our babies on potties) and once we got past the newborn stage where we weren’t really EC-ing yet, it got a little bit difficult to find a diapering solution that worked. But when the mom-designed and USA-made bumGenius Organic One-Size all-in-one diapers ($24.95) came along, I knew I’d found what I’d been looking for.

In A Nutshell: One thing about babywearing — it
can be hot! And not in a good way. Press a little bundle of 98 degrees
against your skin on warm day and things get uncomfortable fast. Unless
of course, you’re using a Hotsling ($30-60), which despite its name, is very cool.
Why It’s Great: These cloth slings are essentially
loops of fabric that carry your baby on one hip, off of one shoulder.
They’re lightweight and chic — look at all these pattern choices! They come in nine sizes;
once you find one to fit your body, there’s no pesky adjustment buckles
to deal with. You just slip over your head, slip the baby in, and go.

Downside: Slings can be a bit tricky to get on with
babies over six months old. Once the little ones get more mobile,
you’ll want to keep an arm wrapped around them for support […]

My Plate-Mate for Kids
My Plate-Mate
($7.95), which is a simple, curved piece of plastic â that snaps on to
the side of a plate to help kids push food on their fork â is one of
those âwhereâve YOU been?â products Iâm glad to have finally found,
albeit five years and three kids into the game.
Iâve been watching my five-year-old chase his eggplant parmesan
(yeah, but, itâs one of only three dinner foods heâll eat) around his
plate for so long. Some bites make it in, but too many end up being
forced off the plank, onto the table and floor. I tried giving him a
dull knife to help â no luck. It was even more frustrating for him to
use both utensils (and for me to watch).
My Plate-Mate, which resembles a headband, snapped on easily to our
ceramic, 9-inch plate. And with very little instruction â if any â he
was off and running, using it to […]

Wee Generation Eco-Diaper Bag
Being green just got a little easier for moms. Wee Generation (a company comprised of eco-warriors including Seventh Generation, Healthy Child World and William McDonough) has created a limited-edition Eco-Diaper Bag that’s environmentally-friendly inside and out.
The fabric is made of 100% recycled plastic bottles, it has a
PVC-free waterproof liner, stroller attachment straps and all the other
pockets, bells and whistles you need in a diaper bag.
The price, $200, is a little steep, but consider thisâin addition to
the bag, it’s stuffed with $100 worth of green products, a copy of
Naturally Clean, the Seventh Generation Guide to Safe and Healthy Non-Toxic Cleaning (plus coupons), a Wee Generation baby tee and more. Plus, 100% of the profits benefits Healthy Child World, a childrens environmental health and eco-advocacy non-profit organization.
The bags, which come in several patterns, are only available until the end of 2008.
